About SWAO
The Breaking of Sudden Hearts – SWAO
O SWAO, what a work of leadership you are
In just one week
Yes, just a week
Your leaders registered you, made you official
Brought your vision to life with speed and purpose
They didn’t wait
They acted
They built a home for us, for me
That feeling of not belonging
Was soothed the moment I found you
Where once I believed that death might be my only happiness
You gave my life a place
A purpose
I once felt like a failure just for simply existing
Wondering why I was so different
Why everyone I encountered looked at me strangely
Why I never fit in with the bros
Why I wasn’t smooth or loud enough to be noticed
Too dark for the light
Too light for the dark
But then there was you
Students Welfare Association of Ololmasani
You welcomed me
Embraced me
You saw me not as weird but as worthy
SWAO saw beauty hidden in my brokenness
Heard the pain behind my silence
Held the weight I carried deep in my chest
The kind of weight only you could see and lift
SWAO picked me up when I was sinking
Your hands soft yet strong
Lifted my face from the shadows
Wiped the tears I never let fall
And slowly gently you removed the mask I wore
That tired aching smile I forced every day
You saw my truth
You touched my chest and felt the beat
Of a heart that still wanted to care
Still wanted to believe
Still wanted to belong
And now when I look around I see people like me
People who feel seen supported accepted
And I want to help them too
To lift others like you lifted me
To give them the strength your presence gave me
Because now I know
I am not alone
We are SWAO
And we rise together
